What does it mean when a man washes his hands face, mouth and his feet?

I work with people from other countries, why do they need to wash their hands, face, feet and inside their mouths at certain times of the day? What does it mean when a man washes his hands face, mouth and his feet?
Are they a sweaty type? What does it mean when a man washes his hands face, mouth and his feet?
They are Muslims. Muslims pray 5 times a day- the ritual you are talking about is their ablutions. They are trying to get as clean and presentable as they can in order to face Allah.
It's a Muslim tradition to read their Quraan
Not again. You know which people do this, you're just being provocative.

This is not a question of country, it's a question of religion.

Before you pray to God, you cleanse yourself.
Is it 69 time ? ... seriously ... I know the Muslims do this - I think they are under the impression they are cleansing their naughty thoughts away before they pray..
a very common muslim religious activity-called ablution performed before prayer and at certain other times not necessarially before every prayer. A symbolic washing which may help prepare the person for the private time with his creator as in preparing for meditation by deep breathing something like that.Calms the person, gets rid of dust .refreshes them etc.
Cleanliness is next to Godliness.
You know why they do, or you should have asked them, since you work with them.

This is Yahoo Answers and not Yahoo Half witted Statements made up as a Question.

After a question like this you should wash your mouth with carbolic soap.
Are they having alot of kinky sex?
B.O
have they got.....foot and mouth....
THEY ARE MUSLIM'S. THEY USUALLY DO IT BEFORE PRAY.
they want to make a clean getaway
it's a sign of respect to whoever they worship, it's kind of like the christian term of being baptised 'washing away their sins)
I am very happy to see how you all keep good knowledge of our religion Islam. Thank you my brothers and sisters. Those of you who are right about the answer i would like to mention their ID:

yazooyazzy, Zsazsa A (We wash ourselves before we read the Quran or before we pray), Riya Layne, tink(yes it is a good idea to stay clean, we care more about hygiene), ENIGMA VS MYTH (You are so true brother), nonpedigreed_p (Um i don't understand the meaning of Godliness but yes we do imagine that we are standing infront of Allah our creator and we have to try to forget all the earthly wants when we are praying to Allah) and also ask for forgiveness if we have done sins in our life and promise not to repeat them again and many things lol, its not that hard once you know how to pray...each prayer takes 10 to 15 min) and we perform our prayer 5 times a day. 1: in early morning before sun rise, 2: After 1PM, 3: between 4-30 to 6-30 depending on the season and the change of the suns position, 4: Before sunset, and final 5: One hour or 1 and a half hour after the 4th prayer. there might be some times changes depending on how big or small the day is. If you add all the time ..lol .. you only spend almost an hour just to pray everyday....but i dont get why even some muslims find it hard to pray.

Well take care my brothers and sisters.
theyre muslim %26amp; are getting themself ready for Allah.
its preparation for prayer for muslims and these are the areas most likely to come into contact with things and be dirty...its more to make ourselves feel externally clean and pure as well as internally(hopefully).
They are performing wudu for salah(prayer). And the others are right cleanliness is next to godliness. Bec you are making an effort to present yourself to God. ie to wash away filth.
I suppose it has to do with their culture/religion but isn't it a good idea anyway?

Why do face washes and exfoliating face washes bring spots out?

when i was younger i used to leave makeup on n my skin was always glowing, never ever got spots. Since i have started to wash make up off and use face washes, i get spots regulary! anyone know why?Why do face washes and exfoliating face washes bring spots out?
thats all the dirt from over the years coming out your skin now.. they come in the form of spots the friction of the rubbing causes the pore to swell and become infected with the dirt.Keep going though eventually youll get rid of the dirtWhy do face washes and exfoliating face washes bring spots out?
Sometimes cleansers and exfoliaters strip your skin of oil to prevent spots. However, your skin's natural reaction to this is by producing more oil!! Hence, you end up with even oiler skin, which is possibly the reason for your spots?
its the dirt under the paws of your skin
It may not be because of washing your face it, it may be you age now that your older you may be getting spots because of increase in hormones. But it may possibly be that your washing your face to much and your rinsing away naturaul oils so your skin is more greecy producing spots.

To get rid of the spots follow these tips and you shoud have glowing skin:

    - Eat healthily

    - Wash your face at least once a day

    - Don't wash your face more than twice a day

    - Wash make up off at night

-Use a natural face wash with no fragrances or perfumes.

    - Apply a small amount of vinegar or perfume to get rid of spots. But I can't gaurantee it will work for everyone.

    Good luck! =]

    xxx
To Much Alkaline In The Product
maybe the ones you are using are to harsh for your skin causing a reaction. also don't exfoliate too often as strips skin of natural oil
i no wot u mean that has happened to me before although sum allergiv reactions can come out as bumpy spots so it cud b that...if not try using the face wash every other day and just using warm water on the other days soap can dry out your face so i'd recommend just water on the days that you dont use the wash
    Nevermind the product. Think ';hormones';

Then check that you are using the right type for your skin.

Dry/combination or Oily? Make sure it matches your skin. If you are getting spots could it be because you need one for Oily Skin?
Aparently if you over exfoliate is scrubs off the natural oils on the face causing spots, I used to use an exfoliating scrub every day - I stick to a mild liquid soap from Clinique now and my skin is great.
i own my own beauty salon and people ask me this question all the time.

some peoples skin doesn't agree to water it depend on the area you live in.(i can tell you now any water on my skin brings me up in so many spots.)

people think that the more they wash their face the cleaner and better their skin will be but be assured your skin will produce more sebum to protect it thus making it greasier. your skin needs a certain amount of sebum and the more you strip it the more it will produce. my advice is to use baby wipes or skin care wipes and a moisturizer. ( even if you have an oily skin you need to replace the moisture to stop an over protection of the skin. check out what moisturizer is best for you. exfoliate once a week to remove dead skin and follow your skin care routine everyday. to dry up spots apply toothpaste its great and cheap. please be patient this will take at least a month to improve it will not happen over night.

    .
Did you know that if you leave your make-up on over night it sinks deep into your skin and it actually take 28 days for it to resurface. Thats why you should remove your make-up ever night.

As for getting spots after using face washes, depends on your skin type. There are different face washes for different types of skin. If you have oily skin, or dry skin you will need a product suitable for it.

In my opinion the best place to go to is the body shop they have some brilliant products which will suit you, and they will be a lot more honest with you and actually sell you a product thats right for you, whereas these large dept stores with the beauty countrs will try and sell you the most expensive prodct which is probably no good for you...

I found that the warming mineral mask from the body shop is a great pick me up for your face if you are suffering with spots, it draws out all the impurities in your skin and it feels warm when you put it on, excellent product if I say so myself.....
if the spots are showing up right after you exfoliate, it's because you are making the blood come to your face and kind of ';waking'; your skin up, the spots usually fade after a little while, if you'ore getting more blemishes or something since starting using face wash, i'm not sure
Hi my skin is exactly the same, I never used to us facial washes and even slept in my make up and only rinsed with water but then when I got older I though we were suppose to cleanse tone exfoliate and moisturise, so I got loads of stuff in and then my skin was breaking out in spots all over the place, and then I use more stuff to get rid of them and now they have never got.

I think its the chemicals and things in the face washes and moistursers that clogg the pores and makes skin worse, If I dont use face washes etc on my face I get no spots what so ever my spots go but I feel unclean.

I have tried every face wash and facial cream and moisturiser out there and nothing suits my skin type except tap water lol/

I have at the moment had an out break of spots form using a frangrance free facial wash, and using a fragrance free face scrub 2 time a week and now my skin is all spotty and dried out. I think our skin is just too sentive.

I now went and spent loads in the body shop on there Aloe Vera range for sensitive skin. the consultant said it works for her spots so Ill give it a go. I have it on at the moment and so far so good, if I have spots in the morning that will be another product I cant use

How often and what should i wash my c-pap face mask in? thank you?

If you are worried you can wash it in a solution of alcohol and water or even plain soap and water. It's a plastic one, right? You can wipe it out with a tissue or towel and almost any kind of medical type cleanser. ( peroxide, alcohol, soap, etc..) I wouldn't wash too often as it may cause it to harden and crack over time. Also, don't leave the mask in the direct sunlight when you are not using it. (will also make it crack eventually)How often and what should i wash my c-pap face mask in? thank you?
once a week and use toothpaste it is non toxic and will clean and disinfect your mask

I have heard people say not to wash you're face with a bar of soap... Why? thx in advance?

In general, people dislike soap even for their bodies. It tends to leave a dried out feeling with your skin which is why so many companies are moving towards body washes with lotion or moisturizing agents. The skin on your face is the most sensitive and therefore the use of soap on it makes it even worse. Like others have said, it dries it out and also clogs pores thus creating a build up causing break-outs. Always use a face wash and moisturizer with some SPF in it (i find neutrogena to be the best).I have heard people say not to wash you're face with a bar of soap... Why? thx in advance?
because bar soap will dry you face out, BUT when i was a teen and had acne dial bar soap is the only thing that helped me.I have heard people say not to wash you're face with a bar of soap... Why? thx in advance?
it dries ur skin out, but if it's designed to treat ur skin then i guess it's okay to use it
You can use a bar of soap if you have oily skin and pimples as long as it is a antibacterial soap like Dial. If you have dry or normal skin the perfume in bar soap can cause irritation and pimples. I have for years , after I've finished washing myself in the shower, rinsed out the facecloth and washed my face with just clear water and I have never had a problem with my skin and I'm 57 years old. As I'm older now, my face is more oily, and I use whatever soap I use on my body on my face with no skin problems irrupting.
when soap reacts with water it takes the dirt and sucks it in to a little bubble...like drying it out. thats why they make facial cleansers that keep the moisture in and take the dirt and gross stuff away :)
It's dirty from using it all those other times.
because a bar of soap is not meant to be used on face pores because it can clog them and cause acne, pimples, breakouts, etc.
I use dial soap on my face everyday, i have hardly any break outs and my black heads are under control.

i swear by it. as long as it's not scented.
Have you ever noticed that once a bar of soap has dried after being wet, it goes rock solid and cracks?

It takes the essential oils needed out of the skin and causes it to be dry/ irritated.

If you have no other option other then using soap, use dove or simple.
its been used by various people and it drys your skin out badly try noxema

Does washing your face with lemon juice make you paler?

i think it would just burn...Does washing your face with lemon juice make you paler?
well I think yes... because it sort of acts like a natural bleach. It's a form of natural acid...

    reasons why:

    1. The natural way to get rid of dark spots on skin is to rub lemon juice on the dark area.

    2. Natural way to help get rid of clothing stains is to apply lemon juice to the stain and let it saturate to the fabric.

    3. Natural way to lighten dark elbows and knees is to apply lemon juice while scrubbing it. leave it on for 30 mins.

    4. and many more reason why...

yes, it will sting, burn and make your skin red if you have open wounds like cuts or something or pimples and blemishes. that's a big OUCH if lemon juice is applied to those areas...

hope that answers your question...Does washing your face with lemon juice make you paler?
here are the benefits of lemon juice:

    brighten fingernails

    banish blackheads

    condition hair

    create blonde highlights

    soak%26amp;relax

it has a bunch of various things you can use lemon for (beauty wise) like better complexion, smooth skin, and many others
use hydrogen peroxide don't get it in your eyes. it will work for a little bit, then wash off, but if u use it every day it will start bleaching your skin. please watch out- i don't know if this is even safe, but Ive done it.
i think it lighten it a little bit but not much and i also know it will irritate your skin. if you are trying to even out your skin tone you might want to go see a doctor. b/c many of the products available in stores wont make a noticeable impact hope this helps
I would think it would make your face dry, itchy and burn, leaving big red splotches everywhere.

i dont understand why someone would want to be more pale. every skin tone is gorgeous

Does washing your face with olive oil make pimples go away>?

I hers it make skin softer and gives it a glow but does it help with acne and what are other benifits of using it?Does washing your face with olive oil make pimples go away%26gt;?
no--will make acne worse--unless it is olive oil soap--that is OKDoes washing your face with olive oil make pimples go away%26gt;?
ewww. i really dont think so. I think it will cause more breakouts because it will clog up your pores.
Nope. You need to see a dermatologist. Just give up the home remedies and go see a doctor before your skin scars. You will be a lot happier. Oil is bad for acne-prone skin. Eat olive oil.. that's what really helps your health.
well, it helps with scars, i would rather use vitamin e oilment, and works fine. you should try it
from my expirence no but astringent works best
It will make your face very oily- over moisturizing - and it's hard to get off w/o harsh soap- kinda defeats the purpose. Honestly the best stuff is Proactive. Dermalogica products are also great (and not too expensive)
it helps with scars though. but it dosent help with acne. if you are trying to make acne go away, try using propolis, it would heal your pimple in two days and its natural.
Make an appointment with a dermatologist. i did and she put me on tetracycline, which really helped. I stopped taking it though and it came back...

  • Does washing your face after watching TV or playing the PC hurt/destroy your eyesight in the long run?

    i.e.

does watching TV or playing PC games for a long time (e.g. 6hours) and washing your face (or taking a bath) afterwards (with no rest) really lead to blindness or eye diseases in the future?Does washing your face after watching TV or playing the PC hurt/destroy your eyesight in the long run?
    no.

washing or bathing actually moistens the dry fatigued eyeball

you eye disease theory sounds like an old wives taleDoes washing your face after watching TV or playing the PC hurt/destroy your eyesight in the long run?
I don't think so! But, washing youyr face, after concentrating on a 'screen' should 'wake you up'... to some extent! After 6-hours, or so, your butt should be READY for BED!

Six hours!? All at once??? You need to get another GAME to PLAY!!! Or, another GAME PLAN! OR, someone ELSE to PLAY with!!!

    GOOD LUCK!
No, but i'd like to know what made you think of that
    NOPS
Well washing the face with cold water stimulates your facial nerves and revives you from the tired state. I know for a fact if this keeps up, the eyes/ retina and nerves behind the eyeball will undergo extreme pressure in just keeping you awake for a long time.

Btw that's why I wear glasses now. Too much of playing Gameboy in the dark.
I don't know of any scientific evidence to back up that theory.
Wow I never though of this before

I wonder if taking a shower can be in the same boat

If it is that is why I have bad eyes cause I wash myself

Got ta stop this one and just have a whole lot more stop stink on

Thanks for the warrning Maybe it will reverse and I will not have to ware glasses any longer

Got ta tell my friends this they will be pissed off at the eyeball doctor I bet. Them 200 dollar galsses are now a ripp off

Just don't wash anymore and have good eye sight easy

    Thanks and Thanks again

I have this red rash aroud my nose and on my chin? what could it be? i wash my face regularly.?

This sounds like a skin condition called ';rosacea,'; which is treatable. Time to see a doctor! Check out http://www.rosacea.org/ for more information on this condition.I have this red rash aroud my nose and on my chin? what could it be? i wash my face regularly.?
If you have any skin disorder I do promote a wellness company that have a very good cream for any kind of skin disorder.I have this red rash aroud my nose and on my chin? what could it be? i wash my face regularly.?
    use cream
Check this site: http://www.dermnetnz.org/site-age-specif鈥?/a> for some images.

If it doesn't look like Rosacea, it may be an allergic reaction to something that you're using on your face, especially if you're washing with a medicated wash or using a medicated cream.

Try switching to a gentle, soap-free cleaner, and using a toothpaste without flouride, (such as Tom's or other 'natural' toothpaste), and see if that helps.
rosacea is definately something to be concerned about, but maybe that red nose comes from too many martinis?
    Yes, see your doctor.

But as a first experiment, try not washing your face for a while. You might be allergic to the laurel found in almost all washing products.

Or maybe you react to a food, such as oranges, that gets on your face.

    Or you might be pregnant.
Sounds like roseacea. Use only luke warm water on your face, no hot or cold anything, keep your face out of the stream of water in the shower, use products only for sensitive skin, stay away from caffeine and chocolate, and see a dermatologist. They have cream for it, but diet is really important. Google it and learn.

The skin on my face is shiny after washing it. How can I get rid of it?

After I wash my face, my skin looks really shiny. It makes it look almost oily, but its not because its clean. Does anyone know what I can put on it (not make-up) to make it less shiny? The skin on my face is shiny after washing it. How can I get rid of it?
powderThe skin on my face is shiny after washing it. How can I get rid of it?
Find an oil free lotion with a sunscreen in it. I don't know why faces get shiny after being washed, but I know putting lotion on mine helps a lot.
Try a liquid toner......... it will clean and it will keep your face from being oily.
check the links below for natural homemade beauty tips to:-- Oily Skin control

    http://geebal.blogspot.com/2006/12/oily-鈥?/a>
my girlfriend puts on like powder stuff with a pad every morning after she showers. but i guess that's makeup, you cant tell it's on like you can foundation, it's just so she's not shiny.
I did blush with a cornstarch powder very light, not too much.
    1. Light moisturizer + some powder afterwards, sorry.

    2. Do not use water to clean your face, but lotions.

    3. There are special lotions and creams which make the face matte. One of them Avene.
You could be using a facial cleanser that is a little too harsh for your skin which makes it tight so it looks shiny.

Try using a milder facial wash and following it w/ a toner. Then apply oil-free moisturizer w/ spf and powder.
astringent... it would get rid of the oil

and to keep the oil away so foundation that is specifically for oily skin.

it would help if you put a light layer of transulcent pressing powder on before you put foundation. concentrate on the areas that the oil shows up the most.
Dont listen to other people about powder. I have the same problem as you do. I get a shiny face immediately after washing my face. Blot your face with your towel instead of wiping it. Blot/Press your face with a towel or for sanitary reasons, I use paper towels. It soaks up the wetness, and the shine at the same time. By using a paper towel (instead of a regular wash cloth) , your pores are clean everytime, unlike a towel, which you may not wash everyday.

Then do your makeup, powder, and everything else. Also, to make your makeup last longer. Use a makeup setting mist, you can get one at Sephora stores in the ';makeup for ever'; brand. If someone tells you to use a primer, it contains silicone (dimethicone, cyclomethicone) which will make your face more slippery looking.
    use a non-greasy powder

and you can wash it with a gentle soap, avene for example
Powder, translucent is the best. It's not really make-up, just gives your face a matte look and there's no colour in it.

Is there any way to remove oil off your face other then washing it or blotting sheets?

I ran out of sheets and i cant wash my face this minute, do you know anyways to reduce oil? thanksIs there any way to remove oil off your face other then washing it or blotting sheets?
you can use a thin sheet of kleenex, toilet paper, or the best are the toilet seat covers that are made out of tissue paper. they all do the trick of dotting the oil off when you're out and about.

my recommendation for less oily skin in the future is to use Mark by Avon's skin care line for oily skin. it has a mattifying lotion and deep cleaning face wash. also don't use anything oil based, such as foundation. i have really oily skin, but since using the skincare line, it has drastically improved. Is there any way to remove oil off your face other then washing it or blotting sheets?
I use rubbing alcohol. Just be sure you don't have sensitive skin. It takes the oil, dirt and clears up pimples.
Powder? if not make-up powder talcum power works just fine.
change your moisturizer? You might be using a cream that is not best suited to your skin type.
Just use a tissue or some toilet paper...

Facial Wash Dries Face. Continue Using?

Should I continue using it? My face is, like, peeling...Facial Wash Dries Face. Continue Using?
Do not use vaseline on your skin!!!!!!!!!!! it isn't even recommended for lips as it is a derivative of petroleum (petrol).

You should use a creamy or milky cleanser, although it may feel too heavy it is probably what your skin needs. I would say that you probably have oily skin because your facial wash is stripping your skin of it's natural oils and therefore it is producing too much oil to balance out the ph.

If you don't already do so you should use a non alcoholic lotion on your face and then apply a light cream after you have cleansed.

Hope this helpsFacial Wash Dries Face. Continue Using?
Please, stop whatever kind of facial wash you are using. I was wondering, do you moistrize after you clean? I'd venture to say you could probably even use a vaseline base cream right now. Every face type is different, I hope you weren't using something as harsh as a bar of body soap on you face. I know a lot of people that do, but they must have very, very oily skin. If you want to post another question on what is a good cleanser for your face, I will definitely share mine.
visit a dermatologist to get it sorted out just in case it gets worse. for everyday maintenance always choose the lightest option ie. facial wash for sensitive skin and a good moisturiser helps, it doesnt necessarily have to be expensive, it just has to work well with your skin

get a facial done every now and again... they can assess how your skin is doing and teach you how to get the best outta your skin
stop. and apply vaseline to your face. that always works for me. plus didn't you read the facial direction?
NO! it's too harsh for your skin and you need to stop using it now. it sounds like what you're using is way too harsh and is stripping your skin of all essential oils. you should definately find something that's less drying.

try something like Cetaphil. you can buy it at wal-mart, k-mart, walgreens etc. and it won't dry your skin out, but it won't make it oily either.

you might also want to try mary kay cleansers too, they're all made for your speciffic skin type. I like the mary kay a lot.

to help your skin recover from being so dry, try using an oil free moisturizer for a little while. your skin should be much better in a few days.

    Best Wishes:)
Yeah---stop using it. I used to use proactive and found it really dried my face. I use Murad now---much more gentle and then I follow with a moisturizer. Really any facial cleanser will dry your skin a bit (some much more than others of course...) so be sure to always follow up with a good moisturizer.
I had the same problem when I used the Wal-mart brand of face wash, I immediantly stopped using it and switched over to St. Ives apricot scrub, it doesn't leave you skin oily or dry, its perfect,

    Hope I Helped
Change it, find something that doesn't cointain alcohol
oh God, please stop using it. its too harsh on your skin. you might have sensitive skin or you might have reacted. clean %26amp; clear had that affect on me. try going for aveeno, or vichy, or neutrogena.
I think you should stop using it. I use the face wash from Kiehl's. Its really great. Its called ';Rare-earth oatmeal meal, facial cleanser #1';. Its for normal to oily skin type. It cleans your skin and leaves it soft and smooth. The previous cleanser I used made my face all red and itchy. But I think you'll like Kiehl's. Also, you should use the moisturizer appropriate for your skin type after washing. If you want, you can also use the toner, which gets rid of any left-over cleanser or dirt.
change it fast. use non detergent based face wash
get a toner. but a cleanser and toner in one is not good. you need a cleanser and a separate toner.
Try Cetaphil face wash and also the moisturizer. Its great for sensitive skin that is prone to breaking out. I use it and it works. No breakouts, skin is soft. You can find it at any drugtore.
Stop using it , you can try cetaphil , it is suppose to be really good for people with sensitive skin
stop useing it and look for something less harsh that says things liek gental and moiteiseing or ph ballanced, a lot a cleasers for acne prone skin dryed out my face and just made me have pimples and flaky skin all at once because i was stripping my skin raw. now i use realy gentle cleansers and my skin has raly cleared up alot.

is this really bad for your eyes? washing your face after hours of computer?

i mean.. does it really cause eye impairment if you wet your eyes wild cold water after lets say, 7 hours of spending time in the computer? Is this really bad for your eyes? washing your face after hours of computer?
I have never heard of this.Is this really bad for your eyes? washing your face after hours of computer?
That's news to me. However, I find the LCD screens much easier on the eyes that the old CRT monitors.
dude. get off your @ss and go exercise.
    I've never heard that superstition.

Yes, wash your face anytime you want to.

Yes, leave the computer more often.
I don't think so, but it IS bad for your eyes to stay that long on the computer.... you need to stay away from the computer for such long hours and give your eyes a much needed rest.

What is a good way for a guy to put his hair up when washing his face?

    1. I am looking for manly ways.

    2. I am not cutting my hair. What is a good way for a guy to put his hair up when washing his face?
Just wondering, why does it matter if its a manly way or not if you are going to just be washing your face. Won't the hair return to its original ';guy'; look afterwards. Are you planning on washing your face in a public bathroom and are afraid of being jumped by some trucker dude that hasn't gotten.... nvm, kinda got side tracked by the scary thought of that. =PWhat is a good way for a guy to put his hair up when washing his face?
I didn't want you as the best answer. I wanted Mobi, the third person's answer. I just ran out of time. Report Abuse

You are not cutting your hear... And I wanted to beg you...

And you want a ';manly'; way to put up your ';womanly'; hear...
i am not sure if I am totally understanding your question. if you are just washing your face who cares but if you really care and want to look more manly throw a bandanna on your head. Ones with sculls or Harley Davidson on them are manly...tee hee
    Hi

Get a exercise band that you can put around your head to keep the hair up and outa your face.

    Good luck
comb it back and put a band on it!
does it matter? move it anyway so that it doesn't get wet. a headband, ponytail, clip (kinda fruity) ...who cares???
my question is, how is it manly if it is long enough for a pony tail? come on short is in! forget the head band try scissors.
    dreadlocks might work!
Headband - Nike or something if it must be manly
There really is no ';manly'; way of putting your hair up...

Try hair tyes or hair clips. Buy them in black.. that's as manly as its gonna get. You could always buy a large head-band but that's even more less manly, lol.
Looking for manly ways huh? Bandanas look pretty awesome on REAL MEN. If you are only washing your face and no one is watching, it doesn't really matter if its manly or not then does it? But even if you still want manly ways, keep on trying with a bandana or a doo-rag. You don't need to cut your hair, I have so many friends with surfer/long hair and it looks awesome. I also think that if you want to wash your face, use Clean and Clear, I live for it!
U SHOULD PROBABLY JUST PUT IT IN A PONY TAIL AND WHILE U ARE AT IT USE SOME MAKE UP COS ONLY SISSIES HAVE LONG HAIR
id just wet it back...And blow dry it....I know the purpose was not to get it wet I agree dont every cut it guys are cooler with longer hair
Use a bandana. Like the kind bikers wear and tie it around your head.
put in a bandanna .....rock star style
get a hudge rubberband and put it around your head to pull your hair back.
manly ways? honey, if you want your hair up so it wont bother you when washing your face, then just use anything. A towel is the easiest way, which is by wrapping it around your head.
dont know but i email this yahoo helper and this person is really really really really good at answering all your questions.i tell them everything i need them to answer and this person helps. There email is:

    ask_it_n_name_it@yahoo.com

its a big help an you get your answer back within 1 day or before no longer.its so much funnn!!!I hope this person can help you!
get your hair in some braids going all back that would last for a few days you don't have to wear ponytails or head bands also you can just purchase a bandanna to wear.
what i do is put my hair in clips, but 4 u i would say put it in bobby pins!!

    hope this helped :D
go to wal-mart or the sports store and go to the tennis or golf aisle. buy some sweat bands. simply put on under your bangs and lift up to the top of your head. voila! instant hair out of face! by the way, it is not un-manly to find a way to have a cleaner face. kudos to you for your conscientious attitude.
headband.. like the sweatband kind tennis players wear. That would probably be the least effeminate.

You could also wrap a small towel around your hair like the handsize towel or use a shower cap to hold it on top of your head.

Is this face washing routine sound reasonable to you?

i have some red marks from acne but i finished my medication and they are fading im curious about my washing regime

    1. cetaphil gentle skin cleanser

    2. spf 50 moisturizer (is this alot? or should i go with a 30)

at night time i do the same thing except i moisturize with cetaphil moisturizer

do i need to moisturize alot at night or what?

    \

thankseveryoneIs this face washing routine sound reasonable to you?
cetaphil is a wonderful cleanser. it sounds good, i might lighten up to a 30 spf, 50 is great dont get me wrong, its just that it might be a little much for day to day stuff. its awesome that you are using a SPF though, you will have great skin when youre older. at night you really dont need too much moisturizer, just a pea sized amount or else you will wake up oily. dont forget to moisturize your lips and put spf on those too! also be sure to exfoliate with something gentle 1 to 2 times a week.Is this face washing routine sound reasonable to you?
Umm.. well my dad's a doctor and he's always used/recommended Neutrogena facial bars to all his patients and to me.

Cleansers/soaps are mostly used only to cling to the dirt and oil and makeup so that the water can wash it off, taking the unwanted stuff with it. It does the job without leaving your skin too dry or without leaving residue.

SPF 50 is ok, at least you know you're protected. I just use the normal SPF 15 moisturizers in the day though, and when I'm going out in the sun for long I put on a hat and some SPF 30 facial sunblock.

In the night DON'T pack on moisturizer. I did this a few times and it caused me to break out because it blocked my pores. You should take care to let your skin breathe.

I also exfoliate weekly and use toner nightly to minimize pores.

    Hope I helped :)
It seems pretty good.. However, I would consider EXFOLATING at least 1x a week to slough off dead skin cells and bring fresh skin to the surface... I use CETAPHIL and I mix acouple tablespoons of baking soda and massage into my face and rinse... My skin feels soft supple and I have little to no issues with acne.... I also use a toner/astrigent.. I like WITCH HAZEL which has WAY less alcohol than most commercial astrigents... I apply 2x a day and it removes dirt/oil.. I'm a bit older and I moisturize my skin like CRAZY! AT the moment I use OLAY REGENERIST and I have amazing skin...!

    good luck
    Wow.

Sorry people have to be like that and like disrespect u and just ruine your whole ******* question just to ask if theyre pretty. I havent even seen them but they seem pretty ******* ugly to me =]

    lol sorry!

    Anyways...

That seems like a reallly good regime to me..cetaphil is like one of the gentlest cleansers there is. I was on acutane and thats what my dermotologist told me i should use. And ya you need to protect your skin from the sun so the higher the spf, the better..

It seems like a pretty good amount of moisturizing to me! :)

    Hope i could help
Sounds good to me. I think you should throw in some alcohol free toner though. It helps close the pores so not much dirt and stuff will clog them.
*Report the LOOONG answer above! (by Kati)*

I think that is just fine. You don't have to use spf 50. 30 or even 15 would be great.
    um

    that sounds good

you dont need thaat much spf

    but it wont hurt

  • Anyone tried exfoliating their face with a body wash? ?

What do you think about using :

';Dove Beauty Body Wash Gentle Exfoliating: Moisturizing cream with exfoliating beads'; on my face.

I have it at home, just wondering.

http://www.beautyencounter.com/011111125鈥?/a>Anyone tried exfoliating their face with a body wash? ?
Since it's Dove it should be ok. But there's also a chance that it'll clog your pores.

Mix a little big of sugar in your face wash, that'll exfoliate and fersure won't clog your pores :)

Are you thinking of the info commercial for Proactiv? Proactiv is a great product that would probably help clear up your acne. However, it's rather expensive for a supply ($39.95) but worth it, in the long run. The phone number to order is: 1 (800) 950-4695 or you can go online to www.proactiv.com/newaccount. I don't think that eating a lot of chocolate really causes acne. Anyway, there have been several studies that dispell that myth. Acne is caused more my clogged pores so keep that face clean.

Why does my face get red after washing it?

After I get home from school, my face is totally normal. Then, after I wash it, it gets really red and feels hot. Mostly just my cheeks turn red. After an hour or so, it turns back to normal. What could the cause of this be?Why does my face get red after washing it?
First of all,if u wash ur face using a cleanser and ur face gets red, this totally shows that ur skin develop a reaction when u wash ur face and thus, the cleanser is to be blame since ur skin is sensitive to it.For this,I suggest ur to switch to another cleanser that is more gentle and would not react to ur skin.Try Neutrogena or Clean %26amp; Clear since both of these are gentle to ur skin. But,if u do wash ur face just with water and develop redness at the first place,I suggest u to consult a dermatologist instead.Hope this helps. Why does my face get red after washing it?
If you use alot of soap on you face it can make your face red. Maybe the soap your using is to hard on your skin.
it could be a reaction from it, every skin type is different yours could be very sensitive therefore you should use mild soap or mild cleansers something that doesnt have strong active ingredients to it.

When washing face with cleanser or applying lotion, why do they say to avoid around the eyes?

is it sensitive or something? i mean that part needs to be cleaned too right? When washing face with cleanser or applying lotion, why do they say to avoid around the eyes?
That's right, so if you're fine with washing around the eyes then it's alright. They just tell you to avoid around that area cause it might get into your eyes which will make your eyes sting badly so you should be careful. Massage really gently cause the skin around the eyes is very delicate. You can rinse with warm water in case it gets into your eyes. When washing face with cleanser or applying lotion, why do they say to avoid around the eyes?
    Because your eyes are sensitive. You should read more labels...there are some pretty funny ones out there...like ';Don't iron your shirt while wearing it.';
Because it will sting your eyes, I had some in my eyes before. And to clean your eyes just rinse with water.
they say that so you don't get it in your eyeball.

    Then when I wake up and take a shower I was my face with St.Ives Apricot scrub ';oily/acne prone skin';

use a combo of alcohol %26amp; soap 2 put on a expoliating sponge SCRUB LIKE NEVER BEFORE. Then go 2 da dermatoligist %26amp; get some meds most likely a creme.
Get the Clearasil Tinted Lotion, and also the Proactive Face Mask. Those two together cleared up my face.

try clean and clear acne face wash. it has benzoil peroxide in it do not over wash your face. the more you wash it the more it feels necessary to produce oil to keep it hydrated.
Stop eating oily foods like peanuts or anything with canola oil. Eat more fruits and vegetables aviod cheese and all fried foods. Drink lot's of water.
Even though it is counterintuitive, you need to use moisturizer. Clean your face with a cleanser meant for acne prone skin, but use a moisturizer. If you don't, your skin thinks ';hey, it's too dry out there';, and it pushes extra oil out to the surface, and that's how you end up with pimples. Look for a non comedogenic (non-clogging) moisturizer, and use it every day.

Even though it is tempting, don't pop them. You'll run the risk of scarring. If you need to have clear skin for an event, go to a good salon and have an aesthetician zap them about 2 days beforehand. They have a device that basically cooks the zit - it doesn't hurt, it just heats the bacteria in the zit up to a point where it can't survive. In about two days, if you leave it alone, the zit is gone.

Also, keep your hands away from your face, and never go to sleep with makeup on.
Try the followin tips i found for u .do not use chemicals on skin. Follow these instructions and do let me know if they worked on your skin. i'm sure they will!

These are some effective home remedies for the treatment of acne and blackheads.
first, if u do make up, clean them with a make up remover, follow by a good cleanser for oily skin. For day time, apply a lightweight oil free moisturizer (u still need one even u hv oily skin), before bed apply Galderma Benzac AC 2.5% or 5% for more serious condition. Do not over wash your face, i'd say maximum 3 times a day. Also, avoid too much sweet food.
    use proativ
Stop washing so much. The more you irritate your skin by rubbing it or putting chemicals on it (soap), the more oil your body will create to protect your skin.

You can try changing your diet. The skin is a detoxifying organ. If the kidneys can't handle the waste it will come out through your pores. Drink more water. Avoid sugar, oils and partially hydrogenated fats.

Stress can also contribute. Certain hormones are released when you are stressed and can negatively impact your whole system, including your skin. One of the best things you can do is breath. One of the best ways you can make yourself breath is by exercising.
Use ProacTiv Solution!! My friend uses itand her face looked clear!!! It really helps!!
I use clear skin products. They work on me,and I have really oily skin.
this is no joke it will burn but.... 1) with 1 wash rag w/ some unleaded gasoline 87 preferably scrub face.... 2) rinse with water.
get some oil blotting sheets at Victoria secret they work
go to the drug store and get some strydex
well, if ur looking to pop some pimples try putting some toothpaste on them, waiting afew minutes, and then popping them. it dries the4m out. and for oilyness id try dove facial wash (the kid u pump outta the bottle) follwed by saint ives apricot scrub fo sensitive skin. hope that helps!
Drink water no sodas and clean face day and nite
if you have bad acne, then you can get a prescription for it at the doctors. i did and it works really well.
I have very oily skin, and I used to beakout all the time. I started using Proactive and it helped 100%! Believe the hype because its true! The also have oil blotting sheets and oil control gel as well that is very efficient. Dont let the price turn you away, you'll love the results.

It that for some reason doesnt work, you can do to a dermatologist and see if Accutane could solve the problem. This prescription drug dries up your oil gland and is the best acne fighting drug in the world. It is prescription only, and you have to take birth control while on the drug since it has birth defects if you get pregnant while taking it. Also, 90% of people who take this drug for the 5-6 months treatment NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ACNE AGAIN!!!! It really that great--and I speak from experience!

It's normal to lose some eyelashes. Just make sure you're using an eye make-up remover to take of your eye make-up. Regular cleansers aren't formulated for the eye area. The Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Make-up remover was rated the #1 eye make-up remover this past year. It's great stuff and very affordable! I can send you a sample if you'd like one.

I'd recommend it if you are just looking for an everyday face wash. Not is you are searching for acne solutions.

a very dirty face. lol. Well, really, if you don't clean your face at least twice daily then you will end up with a lot of dead skin cells, dirt and oils building up on your face and filling your pores. This leads to acne and extremely dull looking skin.

So my face isn't clearing up at all.. What am I doing wrong?

add a scrub %26amp; a moisturizer to your skincare routine :)Is this a good face washing routine?
don't use any of that. all u have to do is use clean and clear continuous control acne cleanser twice a day. once in the morning and once at night. i promise you that your acne will be gone in one week.
Are you putting on anything right before you go to bed, like lotion or something, because that can clog your pores and slow down the face cleansing process.

What is a good way to GET RID OF BLACK HEADS? Please help! Any good face washes?

whatever you do, do not try and squeeze them!

if you wash your face everyday then it will prevent some coming in the future. it takes awhile though.

If you are looking to get rid of them because they are unattractive just get a very little amount of coverup and spread it on your nose.

Make sure u get a kind of makeup that doesnt clog your pores, and make sure you clean it all off over night. Compact powder works well to reduce oil throughout the day.. which will also prevent future blackheads. When the foundation is on your face it doesnt let dirt clog your pores, which is a potential blackhead.

To get rid of the blackheads, use a wash with an exfoliant(beads or crystals inside).

What I use is called Joey's.

    Its like glue.

You put a blob on the areas the blackheads are located and leave it on for like a minute then rub it off with your finger and it works almost instantly.

Make sure you continue to wash your face though or they will come back quickly.

(Gently) exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate, then use a light moisturizer. It takes time, but it will pay off. Clean, healthy skin doesn't happen over night. warm (not hot) water, it should be comfortable to stand in, wet your face with water first, lather a palm sized amount in the palm and use the fingertips only in a circular motion to move the cleanser around, rinse off, then pat dry with a clean towel (non bleached preferably.)When washing your face is it important to be gentle?
Well, yes, especially if your skin is sensitive. Don't use cold water and don't use hot water to wash it. Make sure the water is luke-warm.When washing your face is it important to be gentle?

Does any one know of any organic face washes that help acne?

Its not really a wash, it's a mask. I use any of the 2 face masks by Queen Helene. It's natural, with mint and mud, and it helps dry up pimples and reduce redness. It smells minty too! Hope this helps!Does any one know of any organic face washes that help acne?
A very mild solution of tea tree oil in water should help, but it might be best to consult a naturopath for an organic, herbal solution. Do you have alternative practitioners in your area?

it is an astringent, it drys you face for you. you dont wash your face with it, but use it like you use a toner ^_^Do you wash your face with this?
It's a toner. It balances the pH of your skin after washing your face. You apply it with a cotton ball and leave it on there.
It looks like a topical something that you'd apply and leave on.
Nope. I use nuetrogena (I don't know how to spell it)

If you wash your face alot..?

will your face start to break out??If you wash your face alot..?
    With water only : no

With cleanser: Most probably yeah cause it strips the natural oil off your faceIf you wash your face alot..?
you will most likely get a break out for a few days as all the dirt will be rising to the surface, but it usually calms down after a few days.

make sure you use the correct skin products for your skin.

ideally, twice a day should be fine, if you need to wash more, you might notice dry patches as you will be washing away the natural oil on your skin
depends if your using regular soap, if yes then it will cause you to break out. regular soap is harsh on your face becuase it dries it out. either get moisturising soap or get an actual facewash. i had the same problem so i bought a facewash that you use in the shower then after that i used a moisturiser which stops oil building up on your face. and within a week my spots were going. definately look into buying the facewash if the spots are bothering you!
If you wash it in human feces then yes. If you wash it using face cleaning soap then no. Instead of washing your face to avoid the inevitable pimple outbreak of puberty, start lifting weights so you will have a chance at finding a girl....even with a face resembling a pizza.
actually it can happen (if you are washing with soap). there are oils in face wash and some soaps and if you wash it too much you are actually just putting more oil on your face than you are getting off.
Of course not! Your pimples just won't go away if you do that. You will get red, itchy , irritated skin if you do that also!! So ONLY WASH YOUR FACE 1 TIME A DAY!!
It can dry out and you might get a rash, but usually no. Unless the soap irritates your skin.
I'm not sure if it will break out, but I know it will irritate your skin and dry it out.
It could, depending on the way your skin reacts to the product your using.
not unless u wach it with different cleansers everytime

Would washing the face with hot hot water be good or harmful for the skin?

what about cold cold water?Would washing the face with hot hot water be good or harmful for the skin?
If it's too hot you'll burn yourself, but hot water (as hot as you can stand) open the pores.Would washing the face with hot hot water be good or harmful for the skin?
    What About boiling water?
Use warm water. Hot water can easily burn your skin, and also dries out the skin. Cold water does not kill germs as effectively as warm water.
Hot water could burn your skin - cold water is great if you need to wake up or have puffy eyes. I'd just use warm water it's best it kills a few germs and opens the pores - to allow whatever facial wash you use to work.

The best step is using a toner - it balances your face -

    (Alba makes a great one)...
Cold water is preferred by most of the dermatologists %26amp; hot water is very harmful for face and if it is cold season one should use warm water. And taking bath with hot water is also harmful it damages the skin cells.

i dont think a body wash is for your face bescause it is harsher more tough for the body the face is to fragile for it i reccomend a face wash for you face they are more gentle and you wont remove moisture from you face and a body wash for your body it will do the same but for a bigger area

    help with mine

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>Is it ok to put body wash on your face?
No. I mean, you CAN use it, but it's crap for your skin. Very drying - body wash has harsher cleansing chemicals than your face wash. You might be able to get away with it once or twice, especially if you have oily skin, but after a few uses your skin will be quite nasty. I use Cetaphil, but I want to buy Beauty Without Cruelty Facial Cleansing Milk, Extra Gentle. =D
You can, if you don't have problem skin. If you have acne, you probably want to use a special acne cleanser in the shower for that.
I use clean and clean cleanser in the shower it is great

i wouldn't use body wash it will be to harsh on ur skin and u wouldn't want to damage it

Help? stitches on face.. can i wash?

    hi guys...

i had a couple of moles removed on my face by a plastic surgeon...

the stiches are still there but i really feel the need to wash my hair.

can i wash? do i have to extra carefull not to wet my face?

stiches will be removed on tuesday,

help pleaseHelp? stitches on face.. can i wash?
You can wash your hair as long as you do not inadvertently rub on the stitches. If necessary protect the stitches with band aids. Apply Vaseline or similar antibiotic cream to the area of the stitches so the band aid does not stick to them. Also you can GENTLY wash the area of the stitches with moderately hot water and a little liquid soap. In this case it is better to use paper towels rather than a face cloth. A damp paper towel will be less abrasive. Dab gently, do not rub on the stitches. Allow the area to air dry and then apply a small dab of antibiotic cream if you have some. Again, do not rub on the stitches. You want to make sure they stay in until next Tuesday. Some types of stitches are designed to dissolve by themselves, so be extra careful. If you fear they might fall out then just leave them alone. Good luck.Help? stitches on face.. can i wash?
Yes you can wash your face. Get a wash clothe and wet it. Ring out so it is DAMP. then get unscented soap and put the size of a pea on the wash clothe. Gently wash your face and avoid the stitches.

    Good luck tuesday!!!
Yes, you can wash your face with stitches. Just expose it to air to dry afterwards. Betadine solution can also make the wound dry faster.
Face can be washed as usual, but avoid friction/rubbing over stitches. Rinse we and pat dry.

    Face Washing Tips Anybody?

I want to know your step to step guide when you wash your face! I am starting to break out!

Any Soap Recomendations either?Face Washing Tips Anybody?
    here ya go:

    http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple/con鈥?/a>

i recommend proactive since it works for me, but you can also try gentler products if you breakouts arent that bad such as neutrogena and bioreFace Washing Tips Anybody?
I would recommend clinique face wash. They will tell you what type of skin you have (oily, dry, oily combo, dry combo) and then get that.

Wash your face once in the morning, once at night. If you over wash your face your skin will produce more oil to compensate and your skin will suffer.

After you wash your face (either at night or morning) apply a moisturizer. Gel moisterizer from clinique if you have oilier skin, the lotion if its dry skin.

Once or twice a week, use an exfoliator to work dead skin off your face.

    Don't touch your face.

Keep your hair out of your face (hair oil + hair products clog pores)

    Change your sheets regularly...
I use Dial soap, acne terminator, moisturizer, and witch hazel.

    1.Warm water in sink.

2.Use a scrubby, washcloth, or hands and get them wet.

    3.Rub soap onto it.

4.Wash face thoroughly paying close attention to oily parts.

5.Wipe off soap with hot water.

    6. Dry.

    7. Apply witch hazel onto a cotton ball.

    8. Wipe face with cotton ball, again, paying close attention to oily parts.

    9. Put a LITTLE bit of moisturizer onto your hand and rub into face.

(A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY!!)

    10. Apply acne terminator to pimples or places that get overly oily.

    Hope this helped! Good luck!
Some natural ways to help skin is lemon it seems to be rather afforable and effective.

Squeeze a fresh lemon and apply it with a cotton ball, it may leave a burning sensation at first, but you'll get use to it. Leave it over night or 20 - 30 minutes.

Remember don't use soap too often because it dries your skin out making your body secrete extra oil... shower daily, and make sure not to touch your face too often.

If you do decide to use an acne medicine don't irritate your skin by rubbing hard, gently apply to your skin.

    Good luck

My acne wash is leaving dark spots on my face?

I'm using AcneFree for my skin right now, but the only problem I encounter when I use this is that whenever I get a pimple, the wash clears it up in about 3 days, but it leaves a dark brown spot where the bump used to be. (I'm African American). For example, I had a really big painful bump on my nose, and after 3 days (using the Acne Free) the raised bump went away, but there was a brown spot left in place of it.

What should I do about this? The acne system works fairly well, otherwise...I just wish it wouldn't leave those marks on my face. =/My acne wash is leaving dark spots on my face?
uggghhh i hate acne free. it made me break out more, because my skin wasn't bad to begin with. i switced back to my od face wash Neutrogena Deep Clean it leaves ur skin soft smooth and with just the right amount of matte-ness, oh and clear :D

Inexpensive organic makeup, face washes, etc.?

Every thing I find is either to expensive or has no difference from normal products! Help!Inexpensive organic makeup, face washes, etc.?
My favorite organic makeup is Organic Wear face powder. I have incredibly fair skin, so it's hard for me to find powders that actually match my skin tone unless its translucent. Organic Wear is about $12 but I've had the same container for about six months and I do my makeup twice a day usually. The container is made out of recycled material, and the makeup itself smells just like oatmeal. Not that that makes a difference haha.
